La Esencia

At the National Dance School of Havana, Yadian completes his studies. With every step, he exudes striking energy until exhaustion. The movements that animate his body are those of Yoruba, a traditional Cuban dance linked to religious rituals and whose practice is endangered. From a diligent student, he has become a promising dancer, and through him, an island torn between authenticity and modernity, essence (la esencia), and denaturation is revealed.
