Palestinian actors Iman Aoun and Edward Muallem, my parents, founded a theater in Ramallah in 1991 and named it after me: Ashtar. For 35 years, through art, they have embodied the spirit of resistance against the erasure of Palestinian culture. Now, after decades of struggle, the time has come for them to step back - risking the theater’s very survival.
